Stranger Things Social Media
take a walk with me, and I’ll tell you a story
when I worked in the Stranger Things writers’ room, I was given the terrifying privilege of running the “Stranger Writers” twitter account.
I was given far too much freedom, but I mainly used it for good. writing cute, empowering messages to the show’s fans:
started to have a little fun with it:
and then I flew too close to the sun (aka did my my favorite thing I’ve ever done on the internet). it started when I made up what I thought were obviously fake episode titles for the upcoming season:
all fans had to go on for the new season was an image of a clock, so I just leaned into that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
my personal favorite:
many people were in tune with my perfect, hilarious humor (I mean come on… “wakey wakey eggs and bakey????”
but some people did not pick up on my jokes.
articles were written
and theories were discussed
my favorite comment came from a reddit thread discussing the “new titles”:
alright, kids. that’s enough for today. the moral of the story is that I get the conversation going and I’m incredibly persuasive online.
(it being the conversation in question that I got going)
